Ashford Chaingang – Weekly Tuesday evening training for local racers & strong experienced riders

Ian Field (Ashford resident and 5 times national cyclocross champion) runs Veld Coaching and is helping to establish a weekly chaingang for local racers.

It will be supported by two racers from Activ Cycles in Ashford, Tom Rowing and Kishan Bakrania, running  on the SERRL Kenardington course, which is a rolling course and suits full gas through and off.

This is a tough 90 minute disciplined training session for racers, not a race. Groups will try to stay together for the first few laps, but may split into small groups on the last lap as riders give it some extra beans.

Riders should only attend if they are experienced at group riding and need to be aware that the group may average 23/25mph.

Riders are responsible for their own safety, and are expected to wear a helmet and have lights (front and rear).

If you would like to attend the chaingang, please email us on ashford@activcycles.co.uk  with your name, phone number and emergency contact so we have an idea of numbers. In case of cancellation, we will contact you in advance.

We hope to see you there!

Ashford & Folkestone Gravel Ride - Monthly Monday evening for local experienced gravel riders

Join Howard, our local trails expert, on our Activ Cycles  monthly gravel rides. The rides will be a combination of roads and bridleways suited to gravel bikes, using Howard’s unrivalled knowledge of the local terrain.

The rides are suitable for experienced gravel riders and will last around 2 hrs at an average speed of 12mph. Gravel bikes are the order if the day: Howard will be on his Trek Boone and Ian on his Cervélo Aspero. Joining us on a mountain bike would be challenging as road and fast gravel sections average about 15-16mph.

If you would like to attend our gravel ride, please email us on ashford@activcycles.co.uk  with your name, phone number and emergency contact so we have an idea of numbers. In case of cancellation, we will contact you in advance.

The details are:

We started off in Brabourne and wound through the bridleways to Port Lympne. A challenging downhill path through the zoo (sadly the giraffes were not out) took us to the bridleway by the military canal.
